Cards in Envy Sketch #6
Are you loving these Operation Write Home friendly sketches?? I am sure am! I am walking in the Avon Breast Cancer walk in June and need a lot of thank you cards (NOT complaining that I have A LOT of generous friends and family who have supported me in the walk)
I have been using the sketches and challenges at CIE as inspiration for many of them. This one fit the My Favorite Things image perfectly so I couldn't wait to put it together. Papers by Me and My Big Ideas....no jokes, people!!
So hop over to Cards in Envy and link up your card based on this sketch.... then mail it to OWH so some soldier can tell someone back home they are loved.

Cards in Envy Sketch#2
First Monday of the month...time for a card sketch challenge at Cards in Envy...
Please join us, we would love to have you! Remember the only rule is that the card fit in an A2 envelope with no extra postage...perfect for your OWH box!
Such a simple sketch, leaves room for the paper to really shine. I selected a pretty sheet from websters pages.
Used a Martha corner punch with a half back pearl. The ribbon is from Paper Bag Lady on Etsy all layered on a pretty black doily.
So hope you can make a card, post it and send it on to Operation Write Home.

Cricut and a Sketch
This card came together quickly and combines some of my favorite things - a cricut die cut, a OWH Sketch, cuttlebug folder and punny stamps from My Pink Stamper.
I added some little bitty ladies on the white liner inside to cheer up the black.
The sketch called for four stripes which is more difficult than one would think. I thought the polka dot folder mimicked the lady bug 'feel' nicely.

OWH Annual Memorial Day Blog Hop
Welcome to my blog, your next stop on the annual Operation Write Home Memorial Day Blog Hop!! To learn more about why I have let this hobby be a near obsession - click here for details.
This year we are loading cards made with sketches. I asked a group of crafty friends to pick a number and 59 came up first.
I stuck pretty true to the sketch adding only a sentiment (buggy puns from My Pink Stamper) and a ribbon on the strip of crumb cake topped on some great My Mind's Eye paper. I have only just started to play with the Pearl Pen and I think the effect on the butterfly and the dots on the ribbon are nice bright touch.
The focal image is made by gluing one butterfly (shadow image from Give A Hoot Cricut cartridge) to a bright white piece and running that in an embossing folder through the cuttlebug.
The finished butterfly is on some pop dots to give a nice dimension and focus.
Here is what the sketch originally called for. If you are new to card making or low on mojo - sketches are great way to light a fire!!

Sketch 121
More cards inspired by the Rebel Blog Hop. These four fill two challenges - use a die cut and paper piece a card for a child. Paper piecing is the easy way for those of us still coloring challenged. I used a stamp from the Kanban Fairy Cakes set. I have a few of their sets and every single one gives a beautiful image. This one Is tamped on white and used a Sizzix die to cut that fluffy frame. Then, I used the same stamp again on some pretty My Mind's eye polk a dot paper. I cut out just the wrapper of the cupcake and colored the ribbon - I can handle that much. I popped it on dimensional.
Next I wanted to make that pretty swirly frosting look yummy. I covered it with Stickles. Usually, it doesn't flake off the glitter, but this time it really looked like it would. When we make cards for our heros we do not - EVER use glitter. Glitter that flakes can be caught on their uniform and picked up by night vision goggles. There is no card cute enough to risk their safety. So, I covered the stickles with Glossy Accents. Then end effect is really dimensional and looks like you could eat it.
This sketch #121 was a nice fit for the color pallet I used here. Since this is a darker card base the inside is finished off with a white insert where I stamped a tiny cupcake in the corner.
