Cards In Envy First Challenge

Here is the first Challenge for Cards In Envy - dots and or stripes. How yummy!!! Twice a month there is something fun to do at Cards In Envy - first Monday is a card sketch and then two weeks later... A challenge. I used a great Inkadinkado stamp I found recently. See all the detail in there - LOVE IT! and a sentiment from My Pink Stamper. I wanted the paper to be the focus since the challenge was dots (or stripes) I was able to make 4 of these for OWH. I find these challenges the best way to fill my OWH box. Remember, the cards should fit in a standard envelope (Envy...get it!!!) and not require extra postage. Simply Missed

A new stamp - found by a great friend who shared her Craig's List find with me. The background, called Old World Map was stamped with tea dye on the cream. Then I placed the lighthouse from Inkadinkadoo and heat embossed that. I layered brown satin and red ribbed ribbon down the side. Originally, I had the sentiment off to the right. But if felt like it was floating. So I anchored it with the brad through the ribbon. I think that really draws the eye right where you want it. I like that this card is very masculine and very simple - sometimes... I miss you - is really enough. Three of these were added to the OWH box.

images from Inkadinka do were made this weekend. One for my favorite nephew his age, one for a friend of a friend going through a rough time and six for heros to send home. The teen boys are the hardest bucket for me to make cards for, I hope this helps some young guy at home know mom or dad is proud of him.

World Card Making Day

I love World Card Making Day!! This is so much fun. Please be sure to stop by lots of blogs and leave lots of love. I make cards for Operation Write Home In short, we send cards to deployed troops - because there isn't a Hallmark in the desert. This year we were asked to used a sketch, I picked #135 because I had this new image from Inkadinkadoo I wanted to use. Teen cards are difficult, and especially for the boys. I resisted the urge to bling this up or add a ribbon, I felt a bit more simple it works for those teen boys best. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Retired

A gentleman at the office was retiring and I was asked to make a card for the group to sign and send on. I don't have much in the retirement category so I went off to Michael's to see what i could find. Not much!
There are lots of digis out there, but not one that I thought my still lacking copic skills could tackle.

So, I did what any good crafter does... I raided someone else's stash! I asked my facebook group of fellow crafters for goodies - three days later an envelope came stuffed with stamped sentiments... including a completed card!! Though the card was lovely... I didn't think Jim would appreciate the pink.
I am really liking this 6x6 style, it just presents really well. The craft and black stripe and damask are from the same sheet of Graphic 45 paper, layered on Stampin Up's cherry cobbler. All of the ivory was inked up with Tim Holtz's tea dye to coordinate with the G45 paper.
That image, stamped in the same cherry cobbler, and embossed is from Inkadinkadoo.

Thankful in Pink

Such a great chearry sheet from Webster's pages made this Thank You card. I used a big InkaDinkaDo stamp with Versa Mark and silver embossing powerder from Stampin Up. When the image is that large and you rely on the emboss for the sentiment, you need a good image. Stamp five times if required ;)

Miss You A Latte

Great sentiment from My Pink Stamper and good mug stamp from Inkadinkadoo which I Copic'd to coordinate with the background paper.
Layout is pure Gina K inspired and papers by Echo Park. I also found my sizzix die for paper buttons. I really liked that I could bring all of the papers together with the embellies.

This is one of my favorite sketches and I go to it often. This time I used some Inkadinkadoo inchie stamps. Pretty layers, a bit of twine that came from a swap - and that Stampin Up set for sentiments is the perfect finish for this card.
