Mother's Day Cards

I had a bit of a scare yesterday when I thought the deadline for Mother's Day cards into OWH was the 20th of this month.  *SHEW* I have a little more time than that.  To double check the deadlines for mailing keep an eye on the Stars and Stamps blog to be sure you aren't sending cards that just get piled up til next year.
The bright orange card is made with scraps from Graphic 45 Tropical Travelouge wallet.  I just love how vibrant those papers are.  I did a bit of stamping on the card base, I don't do it often.  But, I felt the paper was so bold I could tone it down this way.

And a pretty blue one from the night I only had blue envelopes.  I like how well the ribbon matches and that pretty blue brad in the center adds a a bit more dimension, I think.  Image and sentiment are both heat embossed.  The pretty papers on this card are left overs from an Echo Park 6x6 pack.  I find lots of great deals on paper packs on Crop Chocolate.  Now listen, I am warning you - that site is addictive... enter at your own risk and don't say I didn't warn you!!  The purple one has papers from the same line.  One of those cute brads with the ribbon slits.  I had a hard time using it until I just clipped off the brad part.  When I put that floral ribbon on the polka dots it blended too much. So I cut a really narrow strip of a deeper purple, used the edge punch on that and made a layer.  I think it really makes the ribbon pop.  The crocheted flower from Karla001's etsy was hand dyed and some soft lavender bling in an attempt at balance.  I might have gone overboard on this one, but I couldn't decide what to take away.  Oh, and a bit more stamping on the card base.

  3. I love the first card with the G45 paper! I like how you used a border punch to mimic the lace trim. And it's ORANGE too! Love it!
