A Year in Review

Impromptu blog hop for Operation Write Home!!  Look at me, all spontaneous and stuff ;)  The request was to post our favorite ten cards from this past year.  I have made over 1000 cards for soldiers to send home to their families this year.  I love to make these cards.  I know that a lot of good comes from them, a lot of very brave people are far from home and want to say I love you and I miss you in a way that is more meaningful than a two line email.  These cards give them that outlet.  I get such a good feeling when I read about the moms and wives and loved ones who have received these cards, sometimes it feels quite selfish.  It seems that these bits of paper and ribbon and ink covered hands are quite restorative to me.
I am grateful for the friends I have made with this manic hobby of mine.  I am grateful that in what has been a very, very difficult year for me personally, I have a ‘healthy’ way to burn my nervous energy and give my mind a break from thinking. Connection with these people have led me to down the path of exploring new forms of paper crafting and I have had so much fun learning about tags, and swaps and even made my first You Tube Video.   These women are also responsible for my Circut 'problem'  ;)
Next year I am working on finding a design team where I can inspire and be inspired!
I hope you and yours have a very safe and Happy New Year.
So – here are my favorite 10 cards this year.  I have tried to put them in order from when I created them.  Head back to Stars and Stamps to continue on the hop or Jenn's Blog should be next.
thanks so much!!

  12. Hi Katie! It's really fun to visit your blog today--and sign up as a follower! I enjoyed your comments about what cardmaking means to you; I can definitely relate! I particularly love the "You Light Up My Life" card and the little monkey swinging from a "vine" made me smile. Your final card with that fancy fold is something I've never attempted! Gorgeous. I wish you all the best in the New Year and I'll see you at OWH & the Scrap to Treasure page on Facebook!
